pages 1 to 5 : Germans come to a meeting of Pierre Pène, with his boss, Dufor. He becomes clandestine. He is arrested four months later
pages 6 to 10 Françoise is summoned to go to the Gestapo headquarter. She pleads not knowing of her husband's activity.
pages 11 to 15 : Françoise tries to find out where Pierre is kept. Finally receives a message. Pierre tells about his arrest, his torture.
pages 16 to 20 : End of Pierre's story. Pierre escapes from prison, Françoise and Clotilde are arrested with the children and the maid.
pages 21 to 25 : Françoise is submitted to an interrogation, she obtains the children and the maid to be brought back home, but under supervision. Pierre tells about his escape
pages 26 to 30 : Description of Pierre in full clandestinity, hiding from place to place. Françoise and Clotilde are jailed in Fresnes.
pages 31 to 35 : Life in prison, the other prisoners, the neighbour condemned to death, hunger, dirt,..
pages 36 to 40 : Françoise in the punishment cell, close to death, brought back to ordinary cell, new questioning.

pages 46 to 51 : looking for the children, running to the relatives of the prisoners to give them news, a cousin Biqui is killed in the fight, Pierre goes to St Quentin as Commissaire de la République, Françoise visits Fresnes after the war.
